I wrote this article on helping your tweens maintain friendships for Parenting Magazine (November 2008) Considering planning a volunteer vacation in 2009? Leah interviews "Eat Pray Love" author Elizabeth Gilbert for spiritual website Beliefnet. A profile of Search Dogs Foundation founder Wilma Melville, which appeared in American Profile and is now part of a new book called "Hometown Heroes." Here are brief descriptions of some of Leah's latest corporate projects:
* Wrote "spring health" special advertising section on nursing shortage for Newsweek Magazine (PDF available upon request) * Editing quarterly alumni magazine for a New York City college * Produced copy for medical advertising agency that was creating a consumer-oriented website for a pharmaceutical client's new drug. * Strategized full-service public relations campaign, on a freelance basis, for human resources department of global education business, including: conceiving of and writing press releases and employee profiles; pitching stories to media; coordinating production of a video news release (including writing script, and overseeing filming and editing); and managing day-to-day client needs as they related to media attention. * Wrote monthly newsletter on advertising and marketing for an Internet portal and directory. * Wrote special advertising sections and advertorial content for magazine clients including New York and Islands. Topics included wedding, party planning, romance, and health and fitness. I've written about cancer-related topics for a number of magazines, including Diane (the magazine for Curves Fitness Centers), Delta Sky, and Triumph, the magazine of the American Cancer Society. In fact, my Triumph story of two breast cancer survivors who are now giving back to those still battling breast cancer won two awards for profile writing--an APEX Award and a Magnum Opus Silver Medal.
