The strap is great, it is a bit stretchy so I don't have to have it tight to be secure.
For those that care where it's made, I went with the Scosche because it's not made in China (it is made in the Philippines).
The current price being only $30, it's an absolute must buy.
Comfort: Comfortable band that, you can wear on upper arm or forearm. More comfortable than other locations for HR monitoring like chest strap or wrist. Light weight.
Accuracy: Works great on hairy arms. Seems more accurate than chest-strap based HR monitor.
Connectivity: No issues connecting to Peloton bike, range seems better than Peloton chest strap. Haven't tried connecting to other devices.
UPDATE: After 2 years of daily use, it died. Appears to be an issue with the battery not holding charge. It was good while it lasted. Removed 1-star because it died, but while it was working it was great.
It worked great but I needed a replacement so I got a new one.
I'm not impressed with the strap nor the hooks which connect to the unit to hold it on your arm.
- I always used my Scosche monitor on my wrist because it slips down from my forearm when I ride aggressively. This strap is too long to permit that and the wearer must wear it on their forearm.
- Because wearers must slide it up their forearm, it's difficult to get the tension right and as you see in other reviews, this causes breakage in the units strap pins.
- The strap has hooks on each end which easily fall off the strap making it so your heart rate monitor is 2 parts, probably leading to them being separated or lost.
- Performance of the unit seem pretty consistent but I can't attest to its accuracy of course but it seems ok.
It gives me real-time feedback on my bike computer to tell me if I'm working hard or slacking during training rides.
The most important part is that it works, transmitting my heart rate to my computer but the strap issues are a bother to me.
I may improvise a strap that works more like my last Scosche because this is intolerable.
I hope the designers are reading this.
Update: As you see in the new image, the heart rate drops to around 80, which is obviously a glitch that causes me to question the accuracy of the device. That's not cool.
*** Update: This thing continually loses connectivity to my Garmin 1030. That along with the problems others have with the case breaking where the straps connect and shorter battery life make this a 'Do not purchase" item. Sorry Scoshe. Fix your product.

*** Update: This thing continually loses connectivity to my Garmin 1030. That along with the problems others have with the case breaking where the straps connect and shorter battery life make this a 'Do not purchase" item. Sorry Scoshe. Fix your product.
This device has two major problems, which I'm calling dropdowns and dropouts. Drop downs means that it randomly miscalculates the heart rate, and places it at a significantly lower BPM than it should be. Dropouts means that it completely disconnects at random times.
The drop-downs tend to happen when the device is on your arm, and your arm is below your heart in some sort of compression exercise. The dropouts happen during other types of compression, mostly twists in yoga.
Another issue is the syncing. The device regularly will go into a state where it flashes blue and red, won't sync with anything, and won't even turn off at all. In this situation, the only two options are to let the battery drain, or plug it into the charger. I've never let the battery drain, and don't even know how long the battery would last, because this situation happened so frequently that I have no choice but to just go ahead and charge it to get it out of the situation.
I've tried this HRM in all of the six different available configurations, and multiple times each. I've tightened the band, I've loosened the band. I've tried on a full charge, I've tried on a low charge.
This thing is the single most annoying piece of tech I have ever had to displeasure of using. I mustered up the strength to give it three stars, because it does technically track heart rate and sync with devices most of the time. It just doesn't do it consistently enough to deserve anything more. If I had read this review before buying, I would not have bought.
