When it comes to the best items to buy in April, retailers are all over the place. That is, there aren’t any traditional shopping holidays in April, such as long holiday weekends.

On the other hand, you can count on Easter occuring in April. Therefore, if you want to stock up during after Easter sales, then you’ll be golden.

Given this setup you may think that there is no good time this month to buy anything. Thankfully, that’s wrong.

I’ve scoured the shopping calendars and can say, with confidence, there are good deals to be had on things to buy in April. Let me outline them for you now.

Buy new car seats and strollers in April

Each April, Target runs a car seat trade in event. During this two-week period, you can take an old car seat of any kind and drop it off at Target.

In return, Target gives you a discount on new baby products. Note: you’ll need to have the Target Circle app on your phone to get this discount.

While there, you’ll need to scan a barcode on the drop-off box so that you get the 20% off in the Target app.

Great news: you don’t have to use that 20% coupon on a new car seat at Target. It applies to these products, too:

• car seat base
• travel system
• stroller
• select baby home gear (playards, high chairs, swings, rockers, bouncers, walkers, entertainers and jumpers)

The car seat trade-in event ends April 29.

Leftovers from Easter

As I mentioned at the top of the post, you can pretty much count on Easter occuring in April. That means that the day after, you can find great deals on Easter goodies.

This includes Easter candy, Easter dresses and home decor with a spring or Easter theme. I picked up these kitchen towels and pot holders below at an after-Easter sale at Target. They were $1 each!

Pretzel holiday in April

April might be a great month to buy pretzels. That’s because National Pretzel Day is April 26.

In fact, I cover National Pretzel Day in this round up of food holidays throughout the year. That primarily covers restaurants, bars and stores that offer freebies on the food of the day.

However, my sources tell me that you might just find a pretzel rebate inside the Ibotta app this month. So, if you don’t have it on your phone, definitely download it before National Pretzel Day.

Save on makeup

This April buying opportunity is new to me: each April is the Sephora makeup and beauty sale. From April 18 through April 24, you can save up to 30% at Sephora.

You’re supposed to use the code SAVENOW at checkout. If you’re shopping online, plug that into the promo code box. On the other hand, if you’re shopping in person, mention that code at checkout to save.

Probably one of the best ways to get the discounts from your favorite brands and retailers is to sign up to get emails or push notifications when sales are happening.

Second to that is joining their loyalty program. Usually, loyalty members can qualify for extra discounts, if they’re even available. So, why wouldn’t you sign up.
