New Stores Coming Soon

I was so excited to vist the new Costco store in Maine on opening day. Maine has never had a Costco before. In fact, whenever visiting Maine, if you want to shop at Costco, you have to drive to Nashua, New Hampshire or Danvers, Massachusetts.

Also, I was thrilled when Target finally opened in Maine.

Now if we can just get Aldi to open a store there so I don’t have to drive to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to shop there, that would be great.

Anyway, this is a long way of saying I know that I’m not the only brand-loyal shopper who loves to learn when a new store will be opening near them.

In fact, with all I’ve written about Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack on this blog, I’ve had readers write to ask if I knew of new Nordstroms that would be opening soon.

So, I decided to put together this list of stores that will be opening locations in the coming year. Then, as time goes on, and I learn of more stores setting up shop near you, I’ll update this list.

Finally, I’ve arranged this list in alphabetical order by brand. Then, I’ve put in the city/town and state where the new stores will be. And if I know the expected opening date, I’ve added that, too.

Aldi stores opening this year

Whenever Aldi is getting ready to open a new location, they’ll offer a “sneak peek” day in advance of that opening. This gives local shoppers a chance to check out the store before its official first day.

For example, last January Aldi opened a new store in Bradenton, Florida. However, the month before, the store held one of those sneak peek events.

Future Costco locations

I’d mentioned my excitement about the Costco in Maine. I took this picture of a very happy me on opening day in Scarborough, Maine.

However, here are the places you can expect to see a Costco opening in the near future in the United States.

Costco Membership Promotion via Groupon

The best promotion for a Costco Membership right now is through Groupon. When you sign up, you’ll get your one-year membership plus a $50 Costco Digital Shop Card as part of this promotion. You can use it in store or online.

This offer is for new Costco memberships only or for former Costco members whose membership expired more than 18 months ago. So, if you’ve moved, there wasn’t a Costco nearby and you let your membership lapse for more than 18 months, you’re good to go to sign up for this promotion again!

Also, you can avoid the lines at your Costco location by signing up for this Groupon Costco promotion. This was the crowd at the new Costco in Maine near where I live. Yikes!

Other warehouse club memberships

Perhaps you prefer to shop at another warehouse club because it is more convenient to where you live than Costco is. Here is the BJs Groupon promotion. And I have an exclusive promotion for Sam’s Club for just $20 via Groupon. Plus, both tend to have gas stations where members can get a cheaper price when filling up the gas tank just like at Costco gas stations.

Five Below stores coming soon

I can thank my daughters for turning me onto the awesomeness that is Five Below. From movie theater-size candy to inexpensive hand weights for exercise, I guarantee you’ll find something to buy at Five Below.

When I first shopped at Five Below, it was at the store in Newtown, Pennsylvania. Then, when I lived at the Jersey Shore, we would shop at the Brick, New Jersey location.

After that we moved to Western Pennsylvania, so I would need to go to Butler, PA to shop. Now we’ve settled in Southern Maine, and the closest Five Below to us is in Newington, New Hampshire.

In fact, it was on my last visit to that Five Below location that I went to see what kind of new workout equipment they had. I’m looking to pump up my Peloton room. I was thrilled to see this dumbbell rack, something I’ve had on my wish list.

New Five Below locations

I don’t mind driving to get to Five Below. However, I would like to drive less. Maybe you would, too. Well, the good news is that there are plenty of new Five Below locations opening soon, and a bunch more that have recently opened. I’ve outlined them all below.

Nordstrom Rack coming soon

When it comes to the Nordstrom brand, only Nordstrom Rack store locations are opening in 2024 and 2025. I could not track down any Nordstrom Department stores that will be new this year.

Target stores coming soon

Currently, Target has 1,948 store locations in the United States. While the list below tells you of new Target stores coming soon, I was unable to get the dates when these stores are actually opening.

Trader Joe’s store locations opening soon

At one time you could suggest locations where you’d like to see Trader Joe’s open a store. However, when I was researching this article about new Trader Joe’s stores, I no longer saw that link for suggestions.

However, in the Trader Joe’s FAQ, they ask you to email them to suggest stores. So maybe that’s where it ended up.

Anyway, as of right now, there are only three planned new Trader Joe’s locations. They are in the following places:

Wawa locations coming soon

I spent nearly two decades living in Wawa land. Then, when we moved to Western Pennsylvania, I had to get used to the Sheetz convenience store instead.

If you know anything about convenience store competitions, the one between Wawa fans and Sheetz fans is fierce. Think Eagles vs Steelers.

Anyway, I know that some readers want to know about Wawa stores opening this year. So, I’ve put together this list here.

Believe it or not, Wawa hasn’t announced any new locations for 2023 nor any Grand Openings. If that changes, I’ll update this section.
