What are Peloton Collections Classes

Did you know there is a difference between Peloton Collections classes and those classes in Peloton programs? I think that for many Peloton users, they are synonymous.

Sure, there might be some classes from a Peloton Collection that shows up in a Peloton program. But as far as how they’re organized, they are two very different animals.

Peloton Collections vs Peloton Programs

So, what’s the difference between the two? Well, Peloton Collections are literally a collection of classes that fit a theme.

On the other hand Peloton Programs have classes that are specifically recorded and organized to be in a training program. For example, when I took the Peloton boxing program or the Tunde Arms Program, these were classes that were unique to the program.

However, in the three different Power Zone programs (more about power zone training here), you may take classes that were recorded outside of the programs. So there could be some overlap.

All that being said, I recently realized that I never wrote an article explaining what the Peloton Collections classes are all about. Thus, this post.

What are Peloton Collections

As I mentioned Peloton Collections classes usually fall under a certain theme or grouping. For example, Peloton just release a collection of standing core classes with Rebecca.

When this new collection came out, I discovered that I’d already taken about one-third of the classes. That’s because in 2021 I focused on standing core and yoga classes when my wrist was in a cast. But that just goes to show you how classes in a collection likely originated somewhere else, such as during Black History Month or when there was a series of Eminem themed classes.

How are Peloton Collections organized

Many of these Peloton Collections are instructor themed, such as the aforementioned standing core with Rebecca. Others include:

  • Jenn Sherman’s Epic Sing a Long rides
  • XOXO, Cody rides with Cody Rigsby
  • Movie Buff with Kendall (Toole)
  • Club Bangers with Alex Toussaint
  • En Espanol (a collection of cross training classes taught by Peloton Spanish-speaking instructors: Mariana Fernandez, Rad Lopez and Camila Ramon)

Other classes in a collection may be grouped by musical artist or kind of ride, such as power zone or beginner rides.

Downside of Peloton Collections

There are two drawbacks to how Peloton Collections are organized. One, you can’t search within Collections for specific classes. So you have to scroll and scroll and scroll to find the classes you want.

However, at least classes under the Artist Series Collection are listed in alphabetical order. Well, alphabetical order by first name like Peloton does with instructors names. So if you’re looking for the Peloton Eminem Collection of classes, you won’t have to scroll too far down to find them.

And, two, classes are added to Collections in reverse chronological order. In other words, they appear with the most recent collection of classes first. However, the Collections aren’t dated.

What classes are in Get Out and Move Collection

During Summer 2022, Peloton added the Get Out and Move Challenge (for which you could earn a special Peloton badge) to the Collection. Also called Get Out and Move in Collection, it includes 87 classes across disciplines.

Primarily, you earn towards the badge by taking Outdoors, audio-only classes on the Peloton app. In fact, you need to take 24 classes all together. Those 24 are not included with 87 classes you’ll find in the collection. Anyway, I ended up earning the badge in July.

However, there are other kinds of classes that qualify for this badge and which appear in the collection. This includes classes in these categories:

  • barre
  • cardio
  • core
  • meditation
  • Pilates
  • stretching
  • strength
  • yoga

Finally, this challenge’s end date is August 31st. So, since I’m writing this article in early August, I’m not clear if the Peloton Get Out and Move series of classes will still be in Collections come September.

Where do you find Peloton Collections classes

Before I tell you where to find Peloton Collections, let me point out that Collections are not viewable on the Peloton channel on a Roku TV or other Smart TV. In fact, you can’t access any of the special collections or programs if you access Peloton classes through your Smart TV.

So, if you’re exclusively a Peloton app user, you may want to cast or connect your phone or computer to your Smart TV so you can access Collections etc.

What are the music themed Collections on Peloton

In my article about Peloton themed rides, runs and classes, I talked about different Artist Series classes that Peloton has done over the years. And I explained in that article how you could find all of the Artists Series classes in Collections.

However, these Artists Series classes appear in two ways under Collections. One, there is the Artists Series Collection. As of this writing, it has 644 classes in that Collection. And, two, there are Collections that are artist specific. This includes:

  • The Beatles
  • Beyonce
  • David Bowie
  • Taylor Swift
  • Usher

Here is how to recreate the Taylor Swift workout with Peloton classes.

At one point the Disney rides and classes had a collection of their own. But that’s gone now. However, you will find some of them under the Peloton Family collection. These are classes you can do with your children

Here’s my article on Peloton for kids.

Why is Peloton boxing in Collections and Programs

Having completed the Get Hooked: Peloton Boxing program, I scrolled through the 74 classes in the Peloton Boxing Collection. I wanted to see if any of the classes I’d taken in the boxing program showed up with a check mark. You know, a sign that I’d taken them before.

And the answer was a big fat nope. These are newer boxing classes that go beyond just shadowboxing. The boxing collection includes boxing stretches, boxing warm ups, boxing themed classes and even boxing bootcamps.

Final thoughts on Peloton Collections Classes

Have I helped to make sense of the classes that show up in the Peloton Collections? If not, please let me know what questions I can answer for you.

Also, as Peloton adds more classes to the Collections, I’ll do my best to update this article. Same if they get rid of classes within Collections.
