Where to Get Teacher Discounts
The first time I ever heard about teacher discounts was when my husband was early in his career. At that time we were buying our first Apple computer and learned that there were educator discounts on Macs for teachers. Itโs not a huge discount, mind you, but every dollar counts, right?
Anyway, since that time many more companies have started offering discounts to those that work in education. While they may call them teacher discounts, the truth is if you work at a school and have the ID to prove it, youโll likely qualify for this discount. Really, it should be called an educator discount.
Because there are lots of people who work in education who may not be teachers, per se. Also, many of these same companies offer student discounts, which I cover in this article about how to save money as a college student.
But I digress. The reason for this article? I figured my readers who are teachers or work in the education field would want to know brands and businesses that reward them for their dedication with a discount.

Many of the businesses offering discounts for teachers offer them in person, when you shop in store, as well as when you shop online. For example, if you visit a clothing store with an educator discount, you likely just have to show your work ID that shows the school district, college or university where you work.
When taking advantage of these offers online, youโll probably have to go through a third-party site to verify your employment. For example, some online stores use a third-party site called SheerID. They approve your status working in education and then issue a discount code you can use when shopping online at a participating retailer. You can use that promo code only once.
Where you can get teacher and educator discounts
Here is my list of retailers, businesses and brands that participate in these kinds of discounts. Overall Iโve found that footwear and shoe brands are the ones that are most generous with teacher discounts.

Final thoughts on teacher discounts
Many teachers and educators are members of NEA, National Education Association. Oftentimes, your NEA card can get you a teacher discount that otherwise wouldnโt be available to educators.
Also, every year, in early May, is Teacher Appreciation Week along with Teacher Appreciation Day. Itโs entirely possible that youโll see additional discounts pop up during this week that arenโt available at the rest of the year.
Also, here are ideas for teacher appreciation gifts.
